Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
